Loving the new look but having some trouble getting images to upload. The box opens to add files once that's done how do I get them to actually upload and appear in the post?

Hi Elmer,

I ran a quick test here viewtopic.php?f=128&t=27138.

You can either:
  • Use the old way of inserting images by using the attachments tab and then search for the file you want
  • Drag and drop the file into the message box you type into and it will appear in the attachments tab
From the attachments tab, you then place your file inline in your message at the position you want it.

NOTE: if you add an attachment as above but then do not place it inline, the image will appear at the end of the post but with a white box around it which says attachments. Whoever reads your post will be able to access the images regardless, it just depends whether you want them in particular places in your post or all at the end.

Hope this helps

Thanks Terry, I can add the file OK but there is no option to actually upload it or put it inline, the only option is to delete the file. I am using chrome on a mobile device, not sure if that makes a difference, I would post a screenshot but the same problem prevents that :lost:

I just tried it in the test forum and I was able to add an image from chrome on a mobile device. I had the "place inline" button in the attachments tab. Not sure what the problem is :lost: Is your image too large perhaps?

Terry,

I had a similar issue I had 3 images 1 under 500 kb the other 2 at 700 and 800 kb it only allowed the 1 under 500 to added in line. When i resized the others to below 500 no problem.

I can see that some members are able to add pictures to their posts but, since the upgrade, I haven't been able to.
I can upload or drag and drop filenames and they appear in a box below the message box but I can't find the options to embed them into the message :lost:
If someone clever has a little time can you please do a step by step tutorial to guide us Luddites through :?:

I have tried to upload some photos without success and that puts me in the Luddites boat with Shibui.
I hope you have a paddle Shibui as I'm not real good in boats!

Shibui and Watto I was in the Luddite boat until PWC posted about the size, I resized from 700k to 450odd and success, guessing 500k is the new max so try resizing :tu2:

Thanks Elmer. I just tried the same thing and the smaller size worked. It would be a shame if 500k is now the largest size that can be posted as you loose a level of clarity and photo quality by reducing the size.

Manually selecting different sized attachments

Note the "Place inline" button only appears after the file has completed uploading (I think)
note the file sizes,

the 31KB screen shot appeared instantly
the 344 KB one took a good 10-15 seconds to appear.
the larger one of 762Kb still has not completed its process.

Note that if i try to add the same image with 3 differnet resolutions and file size
the one 344Kb loads and can placeinline
the 762 KB one never seems to load

the original image @ full res and 7+MB is blocekd and gives error messages.

Seems that how you add images does not matter but the size of the file does
