Japanese Larch. Conifer and Deciduous

I thought it was just a touch pale when the leaves were fully green - now the leaves have started to turn it's just right. It will be interesting to see when the leaves are solid yellow. Very complicated to match colour all through the seasons...

Yes,

I think a coloured pot (other than green) or unglazed would suit, but I have never really nailed it.

How about bright red!

Update.

Here is the tree fully unwired and trimmed. It was repotted in autumn into the Tokoname pot I bought back from Japan in February.

It was wired over a 2 year period, the major wiring was done in the first year and then a second wiring was applied to the new growth.

The tree has bulked up and i hope that I will be able to do just trimming for a few years now with only minor wiring.

I just notice yesterday that the larch has started budding already. I repotted this tree in autumn in leaf in April.

It is looking good and will further reticulate/ramify this year.

This is a Japanese larch. The European larch has not started moving yet.

Hi Grant.......A stunning tree.
I love the spiralled trunk as it gets to the apex.
Ive always found larch to have attractive branch structure and bark.
hope to add one to my collection one day.

My two had just started to move now .It has been a very cold winter here in NE Vic . We havent had a day at the property over 12 for 4-5 weeks now and 80mm of rain last 4 days

your tree is looking amazing

Hi Matt,

We have had very crook, cold weather for a few days as well, but without large amounts of rainfall. The trees you sent up will be able to dry out.

Latest photo. Just repotted today and considered changing pots but it was still the most suitable I thought.

It's coming along nicely grant. I like the pot combo too.

If it were mine I would consider lifting the first left hand branch a rad to create some height difference between either side.

It's ramifying nicely.
