What a throughly enjoyable day today! Great demonstrators, a high quality of bonsai to view and terrific company. Thanks to everyone who came up and said hello. Your kind words about AusBonsai were very encouraging
Well,
Peter finished working on Ray Nesci's Juniper that he started yesterday;
PA with Rays Juniper Saturday 4 July 09.resized.jpg
Ray told me that he has been growing this Juniper for nearly 30 years and never got around to refining it. I wish I had stock like this that I hadn't got around to yet
After
Peter finished styling it (the 3rd time) this is how it looked;

A nice transformation don't you agree!
Ken (kcpoole) took lots of pictures and will be posting them here soon also.

Steven

I must have started a trend with bringing Big Azaleas for Peter to mull over
This one is Gary "with on R" from the School Of Bonsai, that needed some advice.

Peter then did a demo on a collected Olive owned by Ray.
The tree was collected Many years ago, when the school did a dig out at Mount Annan. It was farmland then, and it was going to be buldozed and made into a Garden. the site is now The Mt Annan Campus of the Royal Botanic Gardens in Sydney. This is where a lot of the research work has been done on the Wollemi Pine.
The tree was pre wired By Clinton and he finished just before the sun came up

He was a tired Bloke

Next up was a workshop on some small Japanese Black pines.
they were exposed root type trees and were very nice. Again Suppplied by Ray ( Where does he have all these trees hiding?)
Someone asked what sort of price they would bring in good Ole US, and
Peter suggested up to $1800. I think Ray is now planning to emigrate there
