Buxus sempervirens..from the tip to you, first styling.

Post by bodhidharma »

I also was itching to get into it today. Although not as keen as some working into the wee small hours, and not being a name dropper (B$#@ts) i hooked into my Buxus today. Knowing how tough they are and how healthy these guys were i root pruned, cut back hard, carved, first styled and chose a pot for them. A long way to go yet but i hope i have set the bar a little bit. Feedback and helpful hints welcomed.
Bodhi.

Thanks Neal, gotta push the competition so we can all learn how to look at trees with a higher understanding.

Okay, not a lot to report. The group has survived and i have now started to tip prune. The weeds are doing magnificently. On observing the group the three on the left hand side need to come closer to the main group and i will do that next repot.

Constant end tipping to promote a fuller look so i can at least trim it into a semblance of a canopy before show time. Refinement later  I have moved the left hand group into a more upright position and a tad more wiring but that is about it for this entry. I have a chance as it is still alive    :palm:

At the moment there is not a lot to repot except a little Autumn colour. I will wire it soon to bring everything down a little. Just staying in the comp with this update.

If you can find that sort of material at a tip, I think I might have a look the next time I go.
Amazing setting Bohdi!

Sweet bodhi :tu2:

Bodhi does that mean that a slight change in leaf colour at this time of year is normal for this species?...some of my buxus leaves also look like yours and I was worried it was a little sick.
Best of luck in the comp!
Cheers, Dario.

This is very normal for box. they are semi-decidious and change colour slightly before new growth.
