Hi All

Here's a little Mugo that I picked up when I was up visiting Alpine, you no Alpine no's where all the good stuff is, but when I only payed $20 for it I could tell you now he wasn't very happy with me, I thought I was going to have to walk home even tho it was my combie we was driven at the time so here it is, If you have any idea's on what to do with it I'd be happy to hear them

Do you think it would be possible /feasible to split and graft the trunk to the deadwood , so it has a live vein running up the deadwood.?

You could possibly carve a groove into the deadwood and place the live trunk into the groove.
It might be difficult to make a tight fit, perhaps use screws which you could leave in place forever.

I think with the dead wood gone there is a very nice literati in there.

Not sure how big this tree is but have come up with this design i don't no much about pines on how they bend tho. You could go with a wind swept design from here an carve the main dead wood a bit . Or if you got the tree to bend back far enough you could hide a bit of the straight piece of dead wood with foliage then cave what sticks out of the top. with the base you could graft on some young trees to im prove the root system at the base

BUT if i brought that home my wife would say why you by that its mostly dead

Forgot the red line at the base thats where the soil lvl wound be

Hi thank's everyone for your comment's & idea's it has given me something to think about, The living part of the tree is 250mm high from ground to tip.

I think this would be good workshop material. Now you have rejoined the bonsai scene after 10 years away, you should do a workshop at a club meeting.

I do like your virt very much & that would keep the tree at around the 250mm mark so a very nice little tree it would be

Hi The Hacker , still recon i should have made you walk home . Shibui does have some Awesome stock as well as the unusual items like this .Plenty more good times and material coming up .
