This cultivar is also sold as "Sango Kaku" and their common name is Coral Bark Maple, for those interested (it may aid in research). I have one as a specimen tree in my front yard. They are absolutely beautiful.

This is some excellent stock! if i could grow maples like you guys down south do i would snag this one up! It has an excellent trunk with some great branching to work with!!! I see a very nice broom style tree in not a long time from where it is, very elegant broom with the trunk it has and the new foliage and the colour of the stems will make an very high quality tree.
SHOHIN YAKUZA!!!
 taking the top half of trees of since 2005!
and growing trees for the future generations! 50+ year plans :D

Could you verify the diameter. Is it 3.5cm or 3.5 inches as 3.5in would be around 9cm and it doesn't look like it in the photos.
Thanks,
DK
Always we hope someone else has the answer.
Bonsai is an art of shrinking.
