Continual improvement
G'day AusBonsaiers,
We all strive to continually improve our bonsai and we have the same philosophy for AusBonsai.com.
We are currently embarking on multiple exciting projects to enhance your experience at AusBonsai and to make this happen we need your help
2 Project teams have recently been created to assist with specific enhancements to the site.
If you feel you would like to get involved with these ongoing and future projects, please register your interest by sending me a PM outlining your particular skills or interests.
The most important thing we are seeking is members who are passionate about Australian bonsai and AusBonsai.
I look forwards to hearing from you.
Regards,
Steven

Re: Continual improvement
Gidday Steven,
There seems to be a lot of empty space on some of the post pages of some threads because the post is only one or a few sentences. The empty space ids being created by the avitar, tool roll and membership info displayed on the right hand side of the post in a vertical way.
If this information would be displayed above the post in a horizontal manner, you could have more posts per page and have a lot less pages on the site.
i think this would improve general navigation of the site.
regards
BoNZai

Re: Continual improvement
I agree! Not to complain or anything but reading through posts can get a bit frustrating since there appears to be lots of empty space after some peoples comments. Took me a little bit to figure out the reason. Also having browsed ausbonsai mostly on a handheld device screenspace is valuable! Just myGidday Steven,

Re the mobile device, if you use Tapatalk rather then a web browser, you do not see the spaces.
I use tapatalk on my phone and tablet and it works good.

Re: Continual improvement
Well somebody has to disagree, might as well be me.
While I agree that the dead space can be annoying, I have visited forums where the user info and such are horizontally above the post, and I feel like that just makes it harder to read without really solving the space issue. Plus it makes it more difficult to view the relevant details of the poster when you have to scroll back up. I also browse with my phone or iPad quite a bit without using tapatalk, and I prefer it like it is.
An alternate solution might be to reduce the height allowed for avatars.

+1. Along with limiting size/content of signatures. (As done on other blogs)lackhand wrote:An alternate solution might be to reduce the height allowed for avatars.
If people really want BIG STUFF then we can apply the same technology as used in attachments - click through to the full size object.

Re: Continual improvement
My one suggestion would be a way to rate informative threads. So when we search for them, the higher rated threads show up first. It would be great to have the quality threads showing up in the search, rather then having to sift through them all to find the thread that contains the gold
Have a question? The AusBonsai Wiki most likely has the answer!

To be honest, why not just get rid of the avatars anyway?
