Looks like I did it in very late winter; early September in Canberra.
I had a computer meltdown a few years ago and lost the photos of the bending.

Looks great, Grant. Thanks for sharing. I really enjoy your style of presentation with these restyle posts, very thought provoking and it's always interesting to see what you chose and why. Also, nice work with that bend!
I really like the lower branch. It adds some character and interest - like Jow said, it keeps me looking and thinking.

I considered; and may still do; removal or the left most branch of the group of 3 branches that make up the lowest branch.
The left most branch actually only has foliage right at the tip but is well disguised.
It would give a slightly more interesting look and movement to the lowest branch. I have left it on for the health of the tree over winter and will reconsider it in summer.

Is this kind of what you were considering Grant?
If so, yes it does give it more movement and removes the only branch that seems to come directly towards the front.
As you said it will look different when that area is filled in though.
Cheers, Dario.

Update.
This is the Red pine that I did some more bending with at last years (2012) convention workshops with Boon. The top was compressed a lot more than I had it originally.
After wiring, shaping, some branch removals, candle growth, candle cutting, needle pulling and about 4 weeks growth. Not as vigorous as Black pines but doing fine.
This tree is not as sorted as the other 2 black pines and still has a fair bit of work and growing to go.
