I bought this tree from Gerrard at a Bnw meeting a couple of weeks ago and I sat looking at it for a while for inspiration to strike ... It didn't .. But today after a meeting in Ballarat I decided to visit bohdi and on the way there I was admiring a large solitary pine in a field planted I imagine to provide shelter to live stock... When it struck me .. Here is the first attempt no detail wire just bones...

You have achieved some serious bending and a good outline.

thanks Gerard, not sure i am 100% its a little boring for me, might bring the apex lower and expose some dead wood up top, will let it rest for a whole though

I reckon it looks great and will get better over time.

I took one about the same size to Hiro in Ballarat last time he was here and to be honest have not done much to it. I readily admit i don't have an artistic bone in my body but this one has inspired me to at least have a hack or bend or two.

Well done. Radiatas are quick growers and yours will look fantastic in no time.

Hi Eliass,

I like what you have done -- specially the apex. I think in another two seasons or so, this pine will be quite presentable.

Would you by any chance have a rectangular pot in mind for it ?

I was thinking rectangular... Will have to see what lies beneath before deciding on a pot ...

I have about 30 training pots down the side of the house so it shouldn't be an issue

You will find a nice rectangular rootball which will slip straight into a pot, it spent two years in a bonsai pot.

That's one mighty trunk, you may not need to do a lot more to it apart from refine the fine branches as they develop. The contrast between the aged trunk and the fine fresh foliage looks to be the tree's best feature.
