Info and where to get

Post by Ficusboy101 »

Hey fellow members,
Been a long time since I have posted but i just wanted to learn some about about juniper in a hot climate as all info online is about cold climates
Some questions are
1. Full sun or shade
2. daily water?
3. Will they survive in the Northern Territory (darwin)
And I just wanted to know if anyone knows any suppliers of juniper stock plants which are relitvely cheap as they may die as I'm getting use to the species
Thanks, Ficusboy101

Welcome back!

As for surviving hot weather, I think you'll be alright! They are used as general garden plants in Hedland (far north WA) so there are species that'll handle the heat!

Junipers thrive in full sun so you should have no problems in NT. 6 hours per day is considered full sun.

I would use a deeper pot with a smaller particle mix and when you water, water well to saturate it entirely.

Depending on pot size and depth, I would think you'd be watering twice on average per day.

Apply weekly tonics like seasol or other seaweed tonics to assist Juni's to better tolerate the hot and dry conditions.

Can't assist you with a seller in NT.. what about nurseries up there??

I would say they do.. you gotta keep trying. Why not ring around?

Don't think trees can be posted to NT.. sux hey.

Who knows some may have successfully posted to NT before and they can chime in.

I'm sure you Nt would have them growing around and about.. you just gotta keep a watchful eye!
