Fast Growth Method

Here something you lot should be doing as well.

Let the top grow out to encourage trunk thickness. This is sprouting a metre high above the normal apex of the tree. The tree is quite a large specimen with the lower trunk as thick as my leg. This has been achieved in 10 years from a small root cutting.

I should add that I haven't got much in the way of growing projects thesedays.

I have gone from owning and growing several hundred bonsai down to 12 of my best trees.

Was just reviewing the posts on page 11 when I noticed an error. Sorry, must have been to much of that Diet Coke I think. The tree in the first pic, which I identified as Glomerata is actually Ficus umbellata 'australis', not that it makes much difference I guess.

I just put two of last year's Port Jackson cuttings into colanders applying this method. Here's hoping for some good summer growth.

For those wondering (if there are any ) I was going to do an update of this thread this weekend, but I had a cancer cut out of my arm during the week, so am unable to lift heavy weights ( ). Stitches out in around 10 days, so will update after that.

Wow cool thread! Graeme I am glad your stitches are out and you are about again. I hope you have apermanent recovery. I am in the U. S. guys. I would really like to know . What is a chook ?¿ And where can I get one. Lol. I want to try this method. I have trees in foam boxes. But i fed them pond water Compost Tea. And they grew like it like weeds. I haven't fone the tea for a while. But I want to do a bigger setup in a heavy duty plastic 55 gallon garbage can . I plan on making a thread to show everyone. Has anyone tried pond water?

We just call them chickens, Ken. I looked that one up myself a while back.

I am going to call em chooks from now on! It has a good ring to it. But yeah we just call em chickens.Here in the U.S. In my home island of Puerto Rico we call them gallinas. Pronounced(gayinass) .
