[ID] Some sort of cypress?

Post by Phoenix238 »

Hi guys, we have these massive trees at my new work that are grown along fence lines and I'm just wondering what they are and are they worth considering? I'm assuming they're some sort of cypress, and after cutting off a branch it smells similar to a lemsip. Thanks

These big hedge cypress are usually Cupressus macrocarpa - Monterey Cypress or just Macrocarpa in NZ and parts of Aus.

Not sure I'd bother with it as bonsai but anything can be used and you'll learn lots while you try - even if it doesn't work out as the best bonsai ever in the end.
