Cascade Juni

Post by kez »

Had some itchy fingers yesterday and felt like working on a tree

Here's what I started with
20150412_135705 (576x1024) (576x1024).jpg
And the end result
IMG_3331 (1024x683).jpg
Needs to fill out and then get a bit of refinement but all in all I'm happy with the outcome,

Love to hear what you all think

Nice tree Kerrin.

Looks a little bushy on the top, are you still thinking about what you will be doing to it?

And how many cascading branches are there?

I don't trust Bonsai, they are a little shady.

Hi Jarad, the top needs to strengthen a bit af it us currently made up of week ish branches, apex's aren't the easiest things to create and need a bit of time i find.

As far as that cascade goes there is 8 branch lets that make up the bottom most layer, then I think 4 and 4 for the upper layers, it all comes off 2 main branches

Nice Juniper styling
I'm guessing a squamata based on foliage shape

Nice transformation Kez. The dead wood will be a big part of the tree.
I agree with Jarad that the top needs to be smaller but you already have that in mind.
The other thing that stands out in the photo is the 3 even levels of foliage in the cascade. I think you should consider alternating the foliage planes rather than having every layer even on both sides of the cascading trunks.

I'm with dansai, looks a lot nicer.

One thing that looks a bit odd is that little vertical bit on the bottom right.

Just a small change makes a big difference. Much easier on the eye now there is not just 3 even layers of foliage. :tu:

Thoughts on this for a pot?
IMG_3355 (1024x683).jpg
Tree is 20cm tall at the apex from the base, and the trunk width is 5cm at the base

Pot is 16cm tall on the right hand side, 7cm on the left, and 18cm across
