Now for the top, try something like this. Get the Left branch to come down an bit, and grow a new leader from the right Trunk line bit and then grow losta fo branches where you need them

I had to use the reciprocal demoliton saw to cut it and it was smoking a bit. The root would have been disturbed with all the vibration. I just hope that it is ok.

Aye aye sir, I will wait till next season before I try anything else like...hollow the bigger trunk? I'll wait and see how the branching gonna be. Any suggestion to help the ramification?

Ok folks, it's been a couple months since I put this oak under a non-plastic surgery. Now it's in leaves and I mean Big leaves. The mature leave size ranges from 1cm to 15cm. I hardly feed this girl at all and she still grows like mad. Any suggestion to have her stay slim and have smaller leaves?

if this were my oak, i would simply cut or cut off the big leaves.

doesnt matter about the big leaves right now unless the branching they are making will not be part of an overall design!

you want strong growth, leaves will help with this, the more leaves the more food the tree can produce hence, stronger growth! which is what we are after

leaf size is something we look at later down the track when we are refining the trees.
you my friend are in a growth stage with this puppy! look at how puppies grow, they are small to start but once they get going they dont stop, that is what you want

like KC said pick and choose which growth you want, wire what is necessary then work from there, you want to control the growth of what you want not stop it or slow it down

Will defoliage help leaf size reduction? Should I total defoliage it now? The stump is already huge and I have not intention of thickening it any more than what it already is.

Thanks Jamie, didn't see yr post. I found it difficult to wire with the leaves in the way. I pinched the new growth to keep the internods short but this promotes too much side branching. I have very litle experience in prunning fast growing plants. Do you suggest any resource to consult?
