The objective of the CREATE category in the AusBonsai Shohin Progressive Styling Competition was to create the best possible Shohin sized bonsai (under 250mm tall) from raw, untrained stock over a period of 18 months.
We originally had 111 entries but due to several factors, 81 entries were disqualified or withdrawn. There were several of these entries that were stunners and it was a real shame to see them out of the running.
Please find following, in alphabetical order based on the artists name, the 30 finalists in the CREATE category of the AusBonsai Shohin Progressive Styling Competition 2016-2017. The 3 highest ranking trees based on your votes will win.
Please select your 3 favourite trees from the poll above and submit your vote on or before 11th December 2017. The results will be shown progressively as the voting takes place and the winners will be announced here on AusBonsai.
Don't forget to also vote in the REFINE category.
Please feel free to post your comments about the entries, the competition or even suggestions for future competitions.
Regards,
Steven

One tinsy problem. My juniper has 2 pics and the firethorn has none
A stick in a pot is better than no stick at all. Remember even the best bonsai started as a stick.

This has been a great competition to follow, congrats to everyone on their tree. It's definitely an inspiration to see just what can be achieved in a relatively short amount of time.
I missed this one too but hopefully there will be another one real soon as I would love to enter. As for ideas I don't really know, maybe a native based part would be cool.
