Casuarina cunninghamiana

Post by PeterH »

Repotted over Christmas into a shallower pot with a hint of Penjing with the rocks ( Granite). Moss to follow and refinment of the foliage.

Very nice!

How long has it been in training and was it collected or grown from nursery stock? Care routine? Climate?

The 2 smaller ones are from a setting a club member gave me and the large one was ground grown 2005 to 2007 then trained in a pot till 2014 when they were all put together.Semi styled in a workshop at one of the native symposiums. I think around 2015 - 16. Care is the same as all my trees. Water and osmicote. Regular pinching and cutting back of needles this time of year. The setting of branches takes a few seasons. Climate is Canberra.

Watto,

Clay dam on the outside to hold the soil in. I will moss it when I find some.

Peter

Well done Peter. That is a nicely coordinated group setting and another really great native bonsai from your backyard

I think I remember being at that workshop too.

That. Is. Stunning.

Brilliant work and love the pot - it's what my Japanese maples are in... but this... this is proper bonsai or penjing or whatever you want to call it! Wonderful.

No idea how you keep it going but hats off to you! As soon as my allocasuarina comes out of the ground and into any kind of pot it goes down hill.
In the blue darkening sky, the moon paints a pine tree.
