I bought this about 8 months ago as nursery stock. Decided to pot it up and style it last night. Pulled it out of the pot and was presently surprised to see a mass of fine feeder roots all around and a dense shin. As there was so many feeder roots I was pretty confident to root prune quite aggressively probably removing 80-85% leaving a 15-15cm2 rootball. The Callistemons seem to take up all and any space in the pot they must be a nightmare removing from the wild.
Anyway I forgot to take a picture of before hand so you going to have to use your imagination. I removed about 90% of the foliage.
Peace
Jesse

I find the Callistemon's the best of the natives probably because of their ability to bud back. I think your plan is to now just plentiful water and leave it to recover for the next 6 to 12 months.
