A winter’s week

Australian conditions vary from one extreme to another. What do you do and when do you do it?

A winter’s week

Post by Sno »

It’s been a long week in the mountains . Snow last Monday which was wet and heavy with no wind . When that happens , it takes out the power lines . A few days without power . We have an accomodation business so for me it’s all about shovelling ,making sure everyone is warm and if they are lucky a hot shower . This year just for fun we throw in social distancing .
Makes for good photos . :)

There is a bonsai (or what I like to call a bonsai ) in every photo besides the one with Reg in it . Most of my trees though are put away for winter so they are fine . The rest of the garden is trashed , the weight of the snow snapped a lot of branches . Usually when we have snow we have wind which stops the snow from accumulating on the trees , but every ten or so years we get one like this . Tonight the wind is forecast to be around 100 k’s .

I've always thought of that spiral staircase to nowhere as whimsical; seeing it covered in snow is so perfect. Beautiful photos but I think I'll stick with my mild winters!

Thanks Greg . The staircase isn’t really the best thing for displaying trees on ( a bit curvy) but I’m quite fond of it .

Hi Kirky . My garden gets trashed all the time so I am quite used to it .besides from snow storms I’ve been through a few droughts , bushfires , plagues of different animals and the odd gale . I’m sure there will be something more .I still wouldn’t want to be any where else because it is an amazing place .

Beaut pics Sno. :tu2: I love snow covered landscapes. It makes it look magical and so pristine. Some years ago we were visiting friends in Helsinki, Finland, and being early spring everything was drab and grey. While we were there it snowed overnight , about 20 cm, and transformed everything into a beautiful wonderland.
Hope your trees weren't too badly damaged.
Cheers, Frank.
