Well .... I decided on a complete re-design of this group. The initial design was a bit radical - I liked the look of it but I couldn’t work the logic in my own head - even though I put it together - then I changed it to look more logically windswept but something was still amiss for me even with longer term development....

.... so this ....

I like it and it’s a storey I can picture and develop. As usual - feedback welcome.

G’Day John,
I agree with you... so why the progression?
In short, I talked myself out of it!
I went searching for trees (not bonsai) where the trunk and the branches were opposite .... it is very rare indeed - at least that was my view after a desktop scan. Then came a fight with myself about design leading the way - in spite of what may occur in nature.... and then I bailed at committing to it ... I sort of lost the story thread in head - yep I could imagine it ... but somehow could describe how it might occur. There’s also a bothersome forked root on on of the main trees...

I nearly reverted to the managing version at repotting but then this variation evolved as I was playing and I connect with this too. And as a bonus, the rock and fork fitted like a glove ...

You’re right it may change again but for the moment this little group has me re-engaged.
