A Few Pots Hot Out of the Kiln

Post by Watto »

I have been trying to learn how to make bonsai pots for a little while now but there was a long hiatus during the Corona "lock down". The good news (for me) is that there are a few out of the kiln this week and I'm going to give myself a small wrap - they are getting a little better. OK they are not great but I am still an apprentice. As you can see from the photos it was raining while I was taking the photos.
I would appreciate your views.

I think job well done,   I like them both, love the glaze. Are you recording the glazes that you use? Always a good idea.
Cheers

:tu: For a beginner they look pretty damn good. That's given me food for thought, I may have to look at joining a pottery group and start making them.

Kirky, my teacher keeps meticulous records, which is good for me as I'm a bit slack in the record keeping area.

One day in the near future i can see people rushing to the Goulburn show in the hope of picking up a Watto pot. True story. Chees John.

And then arriving home for their partner to exclaim:

“What?! You’ve got a Watto!”

Sorry - a’dad joke on a Saturday morning.

Makes me think .... It’s like arriving home from a local show after purchasing one of John’s trees. Excitedly charging through the front door, stoked with your purchase and shouting: “Boom!”

Or picking up one of Craig’s trees and lamenting the complexities of climate change: “Sno ...not snow”
.....

Ok I’ll stop now - Cleary I need to go back to bed, it’s too early for such mirth!

Thank you all, it gives to confidence to make a few more, although I think I would be too embarrassed to sell them.

Embarrassed :o rubbish, you keep making them, take them with you to shows let buyers judge. Everyone looks for that special pot not all pots need to be perfect to your eyes. Sometimes a quirky tree needs just that a quirky pot. Keep up the good work. :tu:
