Seriously cool, thanks for the link Matt. It doesn't really match what I'd consider to be a natural-looking tree, which is more my thing, but amazing to see what you can achieve with the humble olive!

I defoliate my olives all the time, they love it, benefits of defoliation include getting newer healthy leaves, assists in styling and cleaning out old growth, and they look really cool naked, you can enjoy them for a while as a deciduous :tu:

Heres one I prepared earlier ...

I spent today working on a lot of olives, including this one. Since the last post I have extended the shari, taken off a couple of large branches and continued to wire a lot of the shoots to continue the multiple arch branch structures. There's a sacrifice branch growing from the lower left branch to thicken up the first section and it all looks a bit scruffy but once I've got a bit more ramification I'll tidy it up so the structure is more visible. The apex still needs sorting out as it keeps bouncing back after the wire is removed. I won't be creating tight foliage pads, just a loose assortment of foliage all over. Must start looking for a pot too.
