Slab trays and landscapes

In the past i had attempted to make trays , slabs and landscape rocks without success .These were in the pipe-works for several years , inspired and motivated by a post from Luciano , "motivation takes time" i have decided to up the anti and make a move on this method of slab construction . Now while these materials are commonly used in the construction industry , No other info will be available until i have tested to a point where i'm satisfied that they will stand up to the every day use and abuse of Bonsai.

Reinforcing of the larger trays is necessary to prevent breakage , this increases the weight factor .I don't believe slabs under 500 mm will require steel reinforcing the 750mm slab will be put through its paces ,no reo' was placed in this tray .Cheers

Hi Jamie , This could be a prickly situation i may consider producing these as individual pieces to fund my retirement ,currently looking at a "patent Pending" as i believe these could be produced using my method in a commercial venture preferably mine . Would you like to do a vert on the 2 landscape trays using pine seedlings as a guide on the larger tray , if i like what i see i will post the small tray up to you at you expense "Postage" only .Cheers Alpine

i can understand that you want to keep your techniques to yourself if you have a patent pending and yu are going into production to help fund your retirement to, completly understandable

No worries Jamie , the colour in the pics is not true as it was taken under Lazerlite . This is closer to the true colour

The colour is more like a dark terracotta/ceramic as in Bonsai pots .Cheers

no problem mate now i do have a couple of questions, do you want the virt to be of seedlings or a more mature setting? also i can add as many trees as you like but a rough idea of what sort of numbers would be good

Now i'm gunna test you out , if you have something you would like to place into the tray virt it then if and when you recieve the tray "bring it to life" . Now i have some small 2-3-4-5 year old seedlings "2 needles" unknown species as yet to be idetified " from 100,mm to 350mm stems around 2 -5 mm , {will send pics of plants trimmed if required } .It will have to be tomorrow

Use around 9-15 in the 750mm landscape , i'll allow you to choose how you virt the 350mm tray and with which species . Take your time it will take another few days to cure the slabs and then waterproof them .Cheers Alpine

if you can get me some pics of the trees you will be using for the 750mm tray that would be great, same back ground would be a plus tomorrow is all good mate for the pics mate i am working on the smaller tray now which will take me the rest of the night for a few ideas

hehehe, i am sure just like anyone you would be able to learn it mate, it honestly isnt difficult. im not one to beleive in the saying you cant teach an old dog new tricks, i beg to differ on that, one day i might get the chance to show you how to run these boat anchors

Not bad , thats actually the bigger tray ,going on the shape or have you changed that with your program .

sorry that is the bigger tray, my bad. i named them wrong to begin with when i saved them
