Olive and Cassie coming along

Post by archie1979 »

Hey Everyone,
Well its been a while since I posted, recovering slowly still from my spinal fusion that happened now 10 weeks ago. I can start doing bonsai again and I can actually lift some of my smaller plants again.

Here are a couple of my latest projects, gratiously donated by Matt and the heavy lifting completed by my lovelely wife.

The Olive is coming along nicely starting to fill in and it will have quite alot of carving to be dont once I am more confident with carving techniques. Let us know your thoughts and what you would do with this if it was in your collection.

And the little cassi that I have had a practice at carving there was an ugle broken section directly where the carving is so I have pretty much just carved it back to a trunkline now and will wait a while until a carve out the hollow.

Hey Archie,

Good to see your able to get back into your trees.

The olive was donated by another local club member who was heading OS, its looking better now you have cleaned it up. Look forward to seeing how you carve it out once you get a bit more confident. A good way to learn is to use garden prunings or any old bit of branch to practice on. I know I destroyed a few trees in the beginning when I should have practiced a bit more first.

As for the cassie... Its sooo good not to see that ugly little thing everytime I go to the letterbox  Its looking much better now you have cleaned it up. The dogs have now been banned from the front yard so hopefully no more damage to my other trees that are still growing on out there.

Keep us all posted as they progress

I like the shape of the olive trunk...definitely has some potential.
