G,day again guys I am sure Joel is right. According to my book this is a quote of the description.

Callistemon salignus, willowy referring to the habit.

Quote description A small tree to 10 m with more or less pendulous branches and papery ,peeling bark. The narrow- elliptical leaves are soft textured, 6-9 cm long by 5-14 mm wide. the young growth is bright pink. The flower spikes are normally creamy-white to yellow but a number of pink forms are in cultivation ( refer to page 111) . The spikes are about 5 cm long by 3 cm diameter and are seen in late spring and sometimes autumn. The capsules are about 5mm in diameter. End quote.

This doe s fit in with the pictures that you have put up Waltron, so give the man a cigar.

Cheers :) Pup

Thanks Pup. The tree isn't even in full bloom yet judging by all the unopened flower capsules on it, next week it should be more flower than tree. It must have liked our wet winter this year.
Also, I dug a yamadori in the last week of April that I suspect may be the same tree (It had papery bark and similar leaves), I chopped it back to the bare trunk and it is now covered in buds. I hope it is the same tree because I would love to have one of these in a pot! :D
