But which variety? I think they are all Variations of Acer palmatum disectum.Gerard wrote:6 Acer palmatum disectum
they are really hard to identify aren't they:-)Gerard wrote:Thanks Ken,
I am way out of my league here, that explains why I was having trouble deciding which one to pick. The one I have at home looks to be a bit like 1 and a bit like 6 at different times of year.
(6) So I will will take a stab at red filigree lace.
(or is that 1?)
thanks for playing everyone.shibui wrote:There's so many A. palmatum varieties and many of them are just slightly different to another that its hard to pin them down accurately but here are my guesses:
1. a weeping dissectum variety but with such narrow lobes possibly 'red filigree lace'close but it is dissectum 'red feathers'
2. I don't know the variegated ones well but as a guess 'uke gumo'correct palmatum 'ukigumo' synonym 'uke gumo'
3. The colour and relatively undivided leaves looks like 'saotome' japonicum 'aureum'
4. Not much to go on here. Is this one dwarf? guess -'Shaina' palmatum 'shindeshojo'
5. Has this pic been posted sideways? Looks like a weeping var but leaves are at the wrong angle. Looks a little like 'dissectum rubrum'yes sideways, dissectum 'sunset'
6. Another pic that looks like it might be on its side. I can't decide between 'garnet' and 'ornatum' dissectum 'orangeola'
7. White margins could be 'butterfly' or 'okukuji nishiki' but I have never seen the latter.correct butterfly
