From what I understood and have read JBPs should be repotted late winter early spring?

Id be interested in your thoughts :)
In Canberra it is now too late but probably still OK in Adelaide. Your winters are not so cold so there may be no benefit to repotting now.

Since I repotted the pine we have had warm and consistent temps the last 6 weeks; whereas in late winter/early spring we would still have extremely cold weather with frosts etc. Roots don't grow well in these conditions but will in autumn.

I now repot all my Conifers (except Lebanese and Atlantic cedars) in March/April; even Australian conifers like podocarpus and callitris.

I have not lost one; and now a number of other experienced growers in Canberra and even one in Sydney are repotting in Autumn. It also spreads your repotting time over a longer window.

Will you still complete old needle pulling and bud thinning/selection in Autumn or wait?

Hi Scott,

I will do my recently repotted tree towards the end of May or more likely in June.

June would give it about 3 months or more of settling in.

I would not do it now just in case it shakes the tree up; even though it is thoroughly wired in.
