Hi all,

You guys are impatient! Clip and grow like soil growing trials are slow and over a few years but I will take photos tommorrow.

I am glad there is interest out there however and am happy to oblige. It is doing fine by the way..

Grant.

Hoping to repot this tree tomorrow or so; into a less shiny pot.

The tree has grown and ramified a little in the last year and now that I am soon to be fully retired(still 4 weeks part time to go) I should be able to pay all my trees a bit more attention.

Here is the tree in its new pot, a Steve Cummins pot.

Just need to trim it now and see what we end up with.

This tree seems to be reminiscent of the tree that GavinG just posted the other day.

Gavin was asking for advice on his tree's Nebari.

Good stuff Grant

Here are some close up pics showing the results of leaving a short or long stub for the branches to bud from.

All in all I am happy with the result and the two misses may yet bud.

The tree needs now to be simplified but not too much,

I would imagine the last pic is the front Grant? it has come a long way and the lean is subtle enough to give the tree Character. Lovely photoghraphy :tu2:

Update.

The tree went into a Japanese pot in Autumn in full leaf and has gone gang busters since.

I let it grow uncontrolled since spring and just did a trim back.

Beautiful rebuild Grant!

Really great to see how much can be sacrificed in the short term for the benefit of long term gain, for me though while it is a beautiful pot the current pot diminishes the tree. I would be interested to see what it would look like in the Stephen Cullem pot in it's current state

Last week I cut the tree back hard because of some loss of ramification over last summer and this winter.

I removed the lowest branch on the right a year ago(compare to original photos) and mage a cutting out of it. The cutting struck easily and I put it into a 6” /150mm pot in late summer. See below.

I prepared some smaller terra cotta pots to directly strike into and cut back the cutting for more cuttings.

I then made the new cuttings and into the pots.

The old cutting should make a nice small bonsai

Wow you went hard, pretty much back to November 2011! What motivates you to go so hard on it pretty much eliminating all the work over a decade?
