Very Chinese, very Dragon, very dramatic. Great power, great stump, great angle (I think the only angle really). Poodle-clippers might hate it...

My only reservation is that after the dramatic trunk it gets thin fairly suddenly. And then the foliage mass is quite dense. I think you get away with it very well, but in an ideal world it might stay a bit thicker right down to the foliage mass. Difficult to do, I know.

Wonderful tree, full of character. Interesting that people who don't have all that much interest in bonsai still react so strongly.

I agree theat this pot is distracting but my vote is for a dark, charcoal colored pot - rather like the blackish color of sandstone in the Blue Mountains. I think that this color would frame the glorious, pale bark of the trunk, and the dead wood, so that they were the first thing the eye was drawn to. Shape? Hex., round, something with a nod to the natural in preference to square.

I'd like to see more branching developed on the younger thrunk to break up its uniformity of thickness, but, of course, you have to work with what the tree provides (unless you decide to thread graft back closer to the old trunk/new trunk junction).

Love the old trunk, but, then, I loved your beautiful Lady, too.

So many possibilities...please keep posting, as a wisteria lover, I never tire of them,

just wondering what style if you didn't have the trunk resting on the edge of the pot--does the nebari allow for any change?

They can be eyepopping when developed Jan and i dont mind the charcoal pot idea.

I think this would be the only style the tree lends itself too. It used to be upright and part of a larger tree, i sorta like it like this. Need to change the pot though.

it look like an old graceful elephant head ( or w/e animal you see eley to me or Mr snufulupugus lol)
(tiny eye at the top) with her trunk lowering down in to the tendrils of the tree.
I tis beautiful, maybe a taller pot but im still novice and learning, she is striking.

Hi Diederik,love the tree and can see the old man grasping from the edge of the cliff,would change the pot to something darker also perhaps tilt up a little but overall love it.The group of Ash " ladies" I got from you last week is doing well so far so don't think I'll be asking for money back trimmed back to first set of leaves,not game enough to totally strip them,when I can I will post pics.

Wonderful to see you posting Marcela I am glad the Ash group is liking your place. Post it when it has a colour change.

Missed this one cause I've been missing for a while.

Love the character of that trunk Bodhi. More than enough movement there for me. Well done. I love the angle.

Some of the comments on the pot are valid. Is it diagonally in the pot because that is the only way it would fit? Looking square at 1 flat face, the one with the flowers, would thin the pot visually and show only 2 feet to soften it a little as well. The trunk might fit over the cut out corner. Just a thought you may have already tried.

mmmm the pot.

The tree its self is old and ruff and looks real ( how all good trees look ) but the pot is new and flash and looks man made.
what i'm saying is i kinda like it this way. Bonsai is about people and trees.

The only way to see is to repot it and post both pic's before and after and put it to the Vote.

Bodhi, it has a dramatic affect. The pot and the stand do catch your eye first of all though.
Most of us, would I think, love to have it in our collections. Beautiful in flower.

Ahhh, i love this Wisteria, it has put on a show very late this year. A new spec built pot and slightly different planting angle. But, as usual, to early for our show. Aint she sweet. Sorry for the stacking of stuff to keep it of the bench but my display table is being utilised at the moment.
