Re: PJ fig - trim
I too very much like this tree.
I can't say the same for the pot - just a bit too large and bold for my liking.
Look forward to the moment when you can take enough off the roots to safely move it to a new home.
I reckon it will really lift the overall appearance of this combination.

One of the fabulous things about growing bonsai is as you get old and decrepit your trees get old and beautiful

Thanks and i agree, the pot is just temporary with the plan to pot it up into something about half the depth and maybe more of an oval shape. Probably a lighter colour too.

Re: PJ fig - trim
Update on this one.... I defoliate this guy a couple of weeks ago and got it into a new smaller pot. I could go a bit shallower in the future but I'll do that some time down the track... And will lift it a bit further as well. I think it's better than the last pot but have my mind on maybe something a bit more earthy maybe unglazed with texture but still in the lighter colours... Just have to keep looking.....

Stunning tree matlea! For what it's worth I think the dimensions of that pot are ideal.

Re: PJ fig - trim
I’ve ended up placing this one into a wider pot as I’m trying to develop the roots a bit more.
Plan is to extend the silhouette a bit more as the tree ramifies.
I may increase the height slightly as well to balance the extra width
