For what its worth Reverse taper does not matter here, for it is a Broom.

If that is the case, it means that it would have been around 1000 years old then!
Amazing that the life of this tree spans the entire time since the end of the Pharoes in Egypt !

Thanks for posting this tree up, it's great to see old trees in their natural state and stare in awe at their survival for that time. We struggle to just keep ours alive each day, this tree did it with no help from anyone. The fact that it is possible that jesus may have stopped by this tree is truly mind boggling. May it live another 3000 years if we don't kill the whole planet first. A lovely tree in its own shape and battle with destiny, critique is not necessary. Miyagiman.

"Quote" ; in reference to the above tree.
This ancient olive tree is located on the Greek island of Crete and is one of seven olive trees in the Mediterranean believed to be at least 2,000 to 3,000 years old. Although its exact age cannot be verified, the Olive Tree of Vouves might be the oldest among them, estimated at over 3,000 years old. It still produces olives, and they are highly prized. Olive trees are hardy and drought-, disease- and fire-resistant — part of the reason for their longevity and their widespread use in the region.

Gethsemane is the village where jesus was arrested. These trees are over 2000 years old and are witness to his last prayers.

I have to agree its a waste of yamadori effort but not for taper but its an Olive, knoxious weeds
How to replicate.. to quote an older grower, "obtain stump, select branches & pinch prune for the next 30 yrs"
Over that time nature has taken care of the core leaving a very healthy very thin walled old olive.
