Hey Andrew, a very long shot...but do Gail and Lionel have a daughter named Charlize?
Andrew is there any chance you could post some pics of the deciduous trees from your local nursery that exhibit/highlight the branching traits you are describing?
I for one would like to see them
Cheers, Dario.
PS good luck with the trident air layer Greenhorn

No sir. I'm afraid to say that is a bit too much of a long shot. Next time I head in their direction, I'll be sure to take my camera and ask them if they mind. I'm sure Gail will be only happy to have her trees up here as an example of fine bonsai! Just be patient ok, because I'm going away this weekend and may only get a chance in a week or two. I'll be sure to post when I do though!

OK Dario/Greenhorn, I spent the day at Bishopsford on Thursday helping Gail and Lionel with repotting a few of their heavier trees. I took a few photos as promised and they are happy for me to post them up here.
Both trees are Celtis sinensis (Chinese Hackberry), and in my humble opinion, Gail has got the branch structure absolutely first class!

Pleasure mate! Thing I like about the first one is the way Gail's got that major branch rising pretty much straight up, and it fits so beautifully in the overall design! Artistic class!
