Celtis are a declared weed in Queensland.
They make great tree and there are lots in public places and gardens to collect.
The shame is that they are not allowed to be collected, sold or given away. You can keep one if you own it now, but because they will take over, you cannot do much with them.
Even as a potted pruned bonsai tree they cannot be sold or given away. They can be displayed at bonsai shows but cannot go on the trade table.

anttal is right, that sketch is great. And I guess the tree isn't too shabby either

haha just joking, I really like it. A very nice backyardori. I also really like the mentality of spying a tree and giving it a spontaneous chop I might have to shohinize some weed-trees down here that are getting a little bit too cosy

(...and when I say weed-trees I mean trees that grow like weeds, of course... )

Ah thanks for the info Bruce, yes I know from my own yard how crazy they can spread. I assume that they only spread by seeding right? My celtis bonsai won't ever get to the seeding stage (I won't let it!) so that should curb any spreading and the taking over in it's tracks. Unless i'm missing some other way that they spread...

Oh it really is great doing a spy and spontaneous chop. Because you've got nothing to lose. So shohininize those weed-trees for sure, you've got my support. ha!
