can we get an update please. (wow, its only 3 months away)
We are planning to bring a bus load of members, is there somewhere we can congregate for lunch?
or have lunch delivered ( hopefully not during a speech )

what can you recommend for the masses... some times of opening etc would be good.

Hi Leonarda,

So far there have been no changes to the opening of the National Arboretum Canberra and the move and opening/reopening at the Arboretum by the NBPCA.

It is planned that on the Saturday 2nd of Feb the Bonsai collection will be open to the public within the new Arboretum and from then on 364 days per year and the Saturday 2nd of Feb will be in effect be a day of celebration.

There will guided walks around the Arboretum and the guides are undergoing their training now.

Details are still to be confirmed but there will be a community day with various activities(As well as the NBPCA) and catering on site. Opening hours are I believe 10 till 3pm on that first day and from then on it will be 9am till 4pm.

Until further confirmation that is all I can say at this point but you can with certainty book buses etc and join us on this great day in Canberra.

The exhibition of bonsai will be great with even more trees from all around Australia.

Cheers,

Grant

Whilst I did enjoy the drive to the interim site, I am very happy that this is now only 5 minutes from home. OK so the interim site was probably only 15 minutes anyway, but hey Canberra has some good scenery.
Hope to see lots of people there on the 2nd!

Can I just clarify that the opening day for the NBPC and the National Arboretum are both on the same day the 2nd of February. I know this changed around a little and the first post here states the 1st of February. Just about to book accommodation and wanted to be sure.

I did notice on the arboretum website that there wont be any public parking on open day (less disabled vehicles). Looks like I may have to catch the bus!

Only the day I reckon Saturday night will be fun, not sure if the Canberra club has a meeting on Sunday?
