Hi The Hacker , nice to finally see these hit the light of day . I'm keen to see other members post pics of his tree's today . The man was unique , unfortunately i was never blessed to have met him .Keep them coming , hopefully some of the younger members can "see the tree" outside the square as he did and challenge themselves .
Cheers Alpine

Hey Hacker,
how about a Jack Tripovitch thread. you and I were bequeathed some of his big pines which I regard as national treasures.

Hi Brian
It all take's time just like these great Bonsai & if I post them all at the same time then it will over very quickly, but I still have maybe ten of Joe's JBP'S to post up & then I'll start on all his Cedar's & then I'll post the few I have Jack's tree's. I also have some photo's from very early Show's & Demo's that will suprise a few people, so just keep an eye out over the next little while,

Hi Scott,
The black pine of mine you showed is not a Joe tree but one that was achieved from very old and lanky material almost by cut and grow.
I do however have 2 of Joes tree and they are both on Ausbonsai; the Mugo pine and the cedar.
Cedar here

Joe Micallef Cedrus atlantica var Glauca NBCA.jpg
Here is a photo of Joe and his Cedar taken on 26 Jan 2005. When I visited Joe he always enjoyed walking me around the trees and discussing all things bonsai. When Joe decided to sell his collection a consortium of several members of the Canberra Bonsai Society decided to buy a tree as a donation to the National Bonsai Collection in recognition of Joe's many years of contribution to the art of bonsai and to our club. Many will know what a hard bargainer Joe was when buying and selling and this purchase was no different

In the end this particular tree was chosen as it typified Joe's stylistic endeavors. This photo of Joe is as I fondly remember him - a proud gentleman with one of his artistic creations.
