the sudden first bend needs a reason to happen----possible candidate for a tilt back to the right and use an appropriate shaped rock to lean it on

Stared at this one for the time it takes to drink a beer.
Still can't bring myself to cut off the top, thinking I might push the energy back along the branches and hope for a liddle bud to appear.

I played with some sketching on this on the weekend.
I think I have a possible direction I like.

G'day Chris
I missed this one. Nice little Pine with good potential mate.
I like the third pic at 45 degrees in you original post mate. Shows the movement and the shari well. Maybe a little further at 50 degrees would show more of the live wood both sides of the shari. I would incline it more to the right so it was more level at the nebari, bring the top down so the foliage was lower down to the trunk, and shorten the branching and wire the remaining so it was closer to the trunk.
I don't think the front you have chosen shows the movement enough and makes the shari to central. I would still do the same to the upper trunk and branching if you like that front to make the tree shorter and more compact to increase the proportionate power of the trunk.

Thanks. Tony. That's great advice. I'll play with that idea and see what I see.
Hadn't thought about the Shari being too central and dominant. Good point.
That's why I like this place. Good ideas from all over the country.

Steven's 3rd virt is the direction you should be heading for

With all your experience you know everything is impermanent and change is natural. As the Nike ad says..Just do it.

I've stared at it this morning and now I think a round pot will work best.
I can keep changing the front then. !!

Bodhi. I just don't like it as much that way.
once it's chopped it's permanent.
