Re: Hiro Melbourne 2012 Photos
Agree, really nice red pine, though perhaps a bit too heavy on the foliage? I don't know what Hiro had in mind but...As there was a fair bit taken off, I'd be fertilising this year and making sure it was nice and healthy. Then next year, make this cut once i knew it could handle it. I think it has the makings of a spectacular tree, I'd buy it in a heart beat!

Re: Hiro Melbourne 2012 Photos
Some good trees which have problems.
Mostly problems that only the owners are aware of or concerned about.
It is a wonderful learnig experience to see these trees and openly discuss the problems and how to make the trees better.
People are starting to see that these critique sessions are a great opportunity there was a much higher number of observers than other sessions.

Thanks Gerard. For me these sessions are by far the best learning experience. Hiro has great insight into bonsai design and it shows to the full during the critique nights.

Thanks for sharing. Some amazing transformations. Years ago I attended his talk/demo and work on a tree under his guidance. As a Japanese thorough-bred he knows his stuff and has depth. No bullshit. Then we need a translator. Now with his English ability and his drawing, he is excellent.

Re: Hiro Melbourne 2012 Photos
We in Western Australia have a problem we have to fly over, then get accomadation, while the lucky B^$#@ds in Victoria had a choice of 96 worksop places and a Masterclass critique. With a Demonstration on 4 very good pieces of Stock/ treesGerard wrote:Hiro's visit is drawing to a close, with workshops today and tonite and the final session on Tuesday afternoon. (July 10)
