I love a good discussion, its only through discussion, difference of opinion, trial and error, learning from mistakes and a bag full of etcetera thrown in that anything can ever be resolved or progressed
wise words Damian. Enjoy the Huon!!

Hi there.
The Huon suffered a bit during the hottest of hot days earlier this year
It then seemed to be burnt on the top section of bark which caused some dieback but it lives on. The dieback may also be the result of insufficient water. I say this may be a possibility as I potted it on from 200mm to 330mm, giving it a 30% root prune at the same time, therefore it might have struggled to establish new roots into the new medium in time for the really hot dry weather. It may have been better off being given a bit of a tease out and potted into a 250mm.
Coming from the cool temperate environs of a Tassie Forrest it makes me wonder why I try to grow one of these beauties in the sometimes inhospitable conditions that Footscray can sometimes dish up
The plan is still to take a layer but that has been shelved until I get some good recovery growth around the limits of the dieback.
I will post a pic when I have some more spare time.
