Bonsythe no on both accounts I think that this tree is what is referred as au natural. I am happy with it as is.

This tree is one of the best trees for a natural style, so that is what I have done.

Cheers Pup :D

Looks great pup, it's definitely reminds me of an old melaleuca, very natural.

Very graceful, and beautifully styled. "Natural" doesn't mean careless or sloppy - you've made it look elegant, but not artificial.

Thanks for posting,

Gavin

amazing as always pup

do you use straight akadama just with your melaleuca's
or can you use it with most natives?

Hi Pup, nice work . do you think the tree needs wiring? it looks rather messy with branches all over the show.Natural form is ok but it still requires some training as other styles/forms do. IMO.
When you rootprune do you ever train out new roots and work on Nebari or you always just do what you've shown here. I only ask to learn and was thinking that in the 6 years you have had it the Nebari could have been fantastic by now but it seems roughly the same?A great Nebari is what we work towards afterall.
Thanks in advance

Matty J, Akadama was used this time, but since then I have added Carnarvon river sand ( aquarium gravel) at 50% so I use less of it more gravel I have found it better with my other Melaleucas.

I like it as a twin trunk Australian tree, as they grow in the bush around where I live so the wiring is kept to a minimum and two trunks suit this tree.

The roots are very natural to the tree, not the Bonsai the tree.

Cheers Pup

i love your philosophy on how you style a natural/australian style tree
and it shows in this tree, a very convincing natural looking tree

This is really brilliant! Exactly the kind of thing I'd like to learn to do with some of our natives. Thanks for sharing, especially the recent repot shots.

Nice looking natural tree you have there Pup and looks beautiful in flower :tu:
There is a farm close to home that has Melaleuca planted along the boundary and what magnificent looking trees they are, one variety in particular which I have never seen. I will get a few pix for ID
