Re: What is causing this?

Hey Damian, I mentioned Manganese, not Magnesium - but when I checked my sources it seems it is unlikely to be Manganese deficiency. Manganese toxicity is more common than deficiency and Mn deficiency shows up in either old or young leaves. Symptoms - Mottled, difuse pale green to yellow patches between veins. No restriction of leaf size (unlike zinc)I purchased iron chelate today along with magnesium sulphate,
Magnesium is a mobile element so the plants can relocate it when needed and deficiency symptoms show up in older leaves rather than new leaves.
The 3 immobile elements are Iron, Zinc and Copper and deficiency shows up in young leaves.
Iron - loss of green between veins leaving green veins
Zinc - Severe restriction of leaf size or stem length Distinct creamy yellow interveinal pattern. Distorted young leaves.
Copper - Tips of leaves cupped, narrow, distorted or scorched. defoliation from tip. Chlorosis (yellowing) interveinal or irregular.
