I made this 2 days ago. I dont know if it counts as a pot but I am using it as a pot since it is hollow and filled with soil.
I was bored so I was just laying around:

My gardener covered it with soil to make it dirty.

I shall finalize the gurving with the dremel later and bent the cuttings also when the plant feels better.

Sure does Neli. Looks great. This is Exactly why I started this thread. Perfect use of available materials for a make shift pot. Love it.

Josh,
job well done. What stone is that? Rudolf spanko has some bits for die grinder, that can curve limestone. I ordered some.
I found that if you put that big thick sand stone on an angle grinder it polishes the inside very easilly. They use that stone here for polishing terrazzo.
The stone I am talking about is the one you sharpen even knives on. Sorry dont know the name.
My stone is somewhat soft so it took me 5 min to curve it. They make kitchen work tops and sinks from it in USA.
I have made many pots like yours from it...The last one I made I decorated it outside, and plan to do some pots with very intricate curving.

Thanks Neli. The rock is called Mudrock. It is reasonably soft but still takes fair bit to carve. Do you have a link to that big you are talking about. Would be interested in having a look at it. I was thinking about getting a squarish rock and trying to carve an actual bonsai pot out of it. Carving out the inside would be the issue but the bit you spoke of may solve that issue. Dust is my biggest issue so when I get time I want set up some sort dust extraction unit to catch the dust. Got to keep the neighbours happy. I love your pot by the way. Will look great when it developes.

Josh.

Hi Josh
Nice work mate. Love the spots through that rock. I used to work with Marble and Granite for Kitchen and Bathroom bench tops so I understand the dust issue. A regular bagless vacuum should do the trick.

Thanks Damien, I did try our vac which was useless but has always sucked as a vacuum cleaner anyway  I did buy a heavy duty bag less one from a garage sale a while back, just haven't had a chance to use it with moving house. Will let you know how it goes. Thanks for the tip.

Josh.

Darling, I know what You mean about dust...I did not use protective gear the first time and was coughing for a week. Imagine your chest full of talcum powder. So the next time I tied a old T shirt around my face. Looked like a ninja turtle.
Contact Rudy, tell him Neli told me You have bits that curve limestone, the ones You told her about. He will send you pictures and prices...he has bits for curving bonsai too.
rspanko@gmail.com
He is going on holidays to the alps tomorrow, and will be back 22...so if he does not answer immediately you will know why.
Do You want me to look for a picture of the grinding stone too, that You can use with angle grinder?

Thanks Neli. I have a similar bit to that from graham potter. Is the one you use on the lime stone?? I love these bits for carving. I would be interested in the disk you use in the grinder. I use a diamond blade in my grinder for cutting but not really designed for grinding it smooth although I do use it for that  I did didn't think the dust was bad till I looked at my neighbours roof :palm: lucky we moved soon after that :tu:
I love doing the rock carving. I have a couple on the go but a have a bit project in the pipe works if I find the right bits I need to do it.

Josh he has many bits. He saw how I curved my stove and told me that he has a bit that can curve limestone...I did not ask which one it is... Better ask him.
Have a look here first: This is not the one I mean...but can do the job...terrazzo is a mixture of stonese and concrete.

Not sure if this can also be used:

This is the type we use in Zambia:

Actually this are the ones we use in Zambia they have uniform hole and fit on the angle grinder...like the smallest one:

Look at this things also. They look somewhat suitable:
