Managed to get a couple, as well as some old australian bonsai books/magazines:)

Image
A field guide to Mels. (thanks for the tip Pup!) by Ivan Holliday

Image
The art of bonsai (from the 60's) by PG Moore

Image
Bonsai in austrlia (60's again) by Max Leversha

I also had this one in my collection that I've never seen mentioned before:

Thought you might like to know :)

And have sent out a couple of emails about Len Webber's book too, so should be able to get that soon. Is Len Webber who did 'From Rainforest to Bonsai' the same as Leonard Webber who did 'Bonsai for the home and garden'?

Thanks for the tips!

edit: and just spotted 'Bottlebrushes, Paperbarks and Tea Trees' by John Wrigley going for $620 on Ebay!!

Yes it is the same man.
At that price, I might sell mine that is a ridiculous price.

Of your three books from the 60s, I only have info (http://www.phoenixbonsai.com/Books/19501999KN.html ) on one:

Leversha, Max Bonsai ; Melbourne: Lothian; 1968. 54 pp.

Could you provide me with at least that much info on Moore's book and the one by Lindsay and Rothery?
Any further info on any of those three would be most appreciated. Thanks.

I have pulled out the book "The Art of Bonsai" by PG Moore in collaboration with P Weetman , from our club library. we have decided to create a PDF file of it for future reference , to preserve the original copy .
however I don't know if I am legally able to share it online, so will not attempt it .
it's contents are basic knowledge , with photos of his collection. a keep sake for history
For anyone looking to find a copy of it . it is only 23 pages. printed and published by Southdown Press pty ltd Melbourne there is no date on publication
but it did cost 4 shillings. :D

Funny you should bring that up, as I was wondering the same thing myself! I've seen other issues (like and insert from the Women's Weekly in the 60's) that have been scanned onto Trove, which got me wondering as to whether we're allowed to or not? (this is the one I'm talking about: http://trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/printAr ... /3?print=n )

Simply to preserve the older copies that just aren't easily accessible anymore

Jason,

Thank-you for the information. I'm curious as to what the author Moore says about the History of Bonsai from his [possibly 1966] perspective.
