Hi fiveoffive , when you leave the bulbus base on they definitely need big pots or boxes . Mine are in 30mm of scoria , in the actually wet beds themselves .I used these beds in the past to place pots on to conserve water and create humidity for younger material . If they make it then its meant to be .

Hi Shibui , mate they look very promising especially the first pic . Mine have a few shoots but not as prolific as yours . I have 3 here with full uncut bases and they could be dying , they were collected 4-5 years ago . Not good stock so i'm not really worried if they make it or not . The other's that were collected around the same time and flat cut have grown very well ??.

I hope to see a topic on this material at one of our club meetings during the coming new year .

Well a few shoots are happening on a couple of the bigger trunks . I hope they keep going in the right direction , looking good for now .

Shibui, what has become of the tree depicted in your 3rd November post. Referring to the second one from the top, the father/son if you like. Very interesting piece of wood, I hope it made it for you.

All the olives I took home survived and are growing well. A couple grew so well I thinned the new shoots and wired some of the ones I think will make up the main branches and trunks. If I can find some time I'll update the thread to show how they are coming along.

Here is the promised update on the olives I collected at this dig.
All survived and have grown well. I have started to selectively remove new shoots that grew from places not required. New shoots are now advanced enough to start to direct the base of new branches. Mostly don by pulling the shoots down and holding them in position for a week or so to get initial trunk/branch angle. Branches will be built slowly over time with clip and grow. Apologies for the backdrops - did not have time to move them all to better location for the photos.

Great recovery and growth,particularly like the 3rd tree.
