LOLOL sorry Boics, thats inches mate. I knew I should have wrote it. Its only a little un'. It was formerly Mice's tree and I think he specifically gave it to me because of my dislike for the species, hey, I ain't complaining as its a cute tree.

Hi All, I have several Privets and find them to be very forgiving . The R.O.R. lost most of its leaves in a very dry spell, but thankfully came back. It is a cutting from my first tree and one of my first attempts at R.O.R. The second tree needs a bit of work. Cheers John.

This is great, how long did it take for the roots to get that thick?

Hi Andrew, It has taken about 5 years to get to this stage. I let it grow wild for 2 years then trunk chopped and took a new leader from the lowest branch on the left. Another trunk cut last year , probably should have let it go a little longer. It is starting to fill out now, as It had a bad spell and lost all of its leaves. Tough little plants. I wrapped Budding tape around the roots to keep them in place and check them every repot .The rock is a little ordinary but it was in my early days of collecting. Good fun R.O.R. you never know what is happening down below. Cheers John.

Here is my one and only privet. I've had it for about 5 years. The deadwood was done by ripping off a branch to see how it responded It's still alive so what can I say? it was repotted just before Christmas.

Edward why the facepalm?
I find it an interesting material with lots of potential.
The deadwood is still attractive and could be used to further give character to the material.

I'm just a bit baffled about its state.
Are you saying that you trained it for 5 years and that's the extend it managed to respond?
Or do you have it for 5 years and not trained it at all?
I'm a bit confused on this point.
How much growth cycles per year do you have on yours?

Not a great virtual, but just two quick potentials I see in it...

Hi Xtolord, thanks for the virts. I especially like No 1.
The tree has been neglected due to family commitments so it has spent more time in "survive my neglect" mode rather than training. It got beaten up by the hot temps that we had recently as I hadn't been watering frequently enough (it was very root bound) and I thought that it had given up the ghost however it pulled through. It lost a number of branches and I chopped the apex to shorten the tree and give some extra movement hence it's current state. It has leafed out a bit more. With some TLC it should show good improvement over the next year or two.
