Bit of an update on this little tree,

I have moved it out of the weather onto the balcony, it faces north so gets all the light but is protected from rain and this is the result after 2 days under cover Happy as larry hear, looks like it will pull through

Here's another little pic of this fig, I wish I had of known what the whether was going to do, I would have maybe pushed a little more ferts with this tree but all in all I am over the moon with how it has progressed over the last 4 months or so
Some good secondary branching starting to develop and by this time next year I hope to have it well on the way to being ramified

Thoughts as always are most welcome

Hi kez lovely little tree-my only comment is regarding the first branch, main tree,left hand side. I think in the future it will crowd the top of the smaller tree so may want to consider losing that and hoping for a branch bit higher or losing the top of the smaller tree.

Cheers for the suggestion isitangus, I see what you mean but it's all good on that branch as it heads backwards, once again my lack of photography skills let me down haha

My comments are as follow
Cute little fig.
You have bar branches on the main trunk...and one of them is a pocket branch. Think reverse taper in the future,
Your 3rd section (leader of the trunk is the the same direction as the lower section...no movement there....Consider bending it and to me it looks a bit too long.
Consider how you will incorporate the leader +branches on the left trunk in relation to the main trunk...
Something to consider.

Very cute little tree Kerrin.

Just wondering though, usually figs are defoliated in Summer? I don't have many figs (just one actually) but I remember hearing that defoliation causes a lot of stress if not done in Summer as these are a tropical tree.

This was sort of a blanket rule from what I remember, so with varied species perhaps there are varied techniques.

I'm sure someone who has better knowledge of figs will clarify.

Having said that, love the styling so far and cannot wait till it fills out. Making me want to post a thread on my little fig heh heh heh.

My figs are already on the move here due to a very mild winter (temps around 12 degrees at night and due to get to 25 degrees during the day next week) and I am just getting the jump on them early. They had their first ferts last week and will get another lot next week.

Repotting will be done late September and I should get another defol in around December. I'll be posting more pics to keep this thread updated as they leaf out again
