Hi Bonsaielmo, Sorry but I have no idea where Rous Mill is or what your weather pattern is like. I am in Brisbane, Qld., Aus. and our weather is sub tropical. I will re pot my swamp cypress in late winter early spring just as the new growth starts to fatten up prior leaf burst. Here the swamp cypress is at best semi deciduous, keeping it's leaves through winter and shedding them as the new ones come on. I have found no real advantage to growing my swamp cypress in water but I do use a slightly heavier mix and I water daily. My mix is 50% diatomite, 50% best quality potting mix, to which I will add some extra Osmocote, tree and shrub type. When re potting, I will remove most of the heavy downward growing roots and keep as many of the finer feeder roots as possible.Younger tree's I would feed often with lots of fert., moo poo, chook poo,or whatever you can stand the smell of! but water in well. My established Swamp Cypress, I am only using the Osmocote in the mix plus a regular application of Nitrosol as directed. Once the foliage has hardened off, middle of summer, I will put some more Osmocote on, dig a few small holes around the edge of the pot and drop in some and cover it over. This has worked for me for many years now, I hope this is of some help to you. Like to see a new picture of the tree, once you have done the necessary. Good luck, Michael. :2c:
