Thank you to all of you for your wonderful input. So happy to read it all. Don't know about posting photos though. It will be my first carving attempt and I imagine it will look not so good but I am giving it a go. Thanks again.

Marleey,

I would just like to say one thing here. A die grinder is a very dangerous piece of equipment, and I'd be careful to use the correct cutting tools with it. I've been warned by Walter Pall against using them with router bits. I don't know why, but it's worth getting the right cutters. A tool rotating at 20,000 rpm is a serious piece of kit. I bought a fixed speed grinder and wish I'd bought the variable speed unit to use with the bigger cutters.

If you are going to get into carving, get the right tools, and get a good face protection kit.
