I did a bit of work on my stick today. Previously before today i carved out the old cut sites at the back of the tree to improve them. I had slanted the apex to the front also. Only problem i did not bank on was the back now looks better than the front . Problem with that is the apex is drifting away and to thick to do much with. Well today i figured if you cant beat them join them. So i carved out the front. Hope it helps ha ha. Also put it in a new pot. I did not realised how big the base was until repotting. I realised i did not have a big enough pot had to do some serious trimming of the base and roots. Really needed a bigger pot but oh well. So here is an update on my stick.

Some more foliage on the lower branches will be nice tho

As far as hand folding saws go the Silky Folding Landscaping Hand Saw POCKETBOY 170 Medium Teeth 340-17 is the ducks guts.

They cut through with ease and with the medium teeth you get a nice clean cut without tearing.

I don't think it classified as a stick in a pot any more, you might have to change the heading to “stick in a pot to bonsai progression”

Thanks guys. They sure grow quick. Gotta love olives. Oh i have my silky saw on order. 2 to 4 weeks .

Quick update. Not changed much of late

The new hollows have aged well. Olives have just started growing here. I think you will need to keep the top trimmed regularly but allow any shoots on those lower branches to grow freely for at last a few months to strengthen the branches and, as KC pointed out, extend them to get a little more length down lower.

Bit of an update on my stick. Bottom branches starting to branch out after i cut them back hard once they reached there desired thickness. Plans for the future will be to change the veiwing angle slightly. Keep growing out and ramifying all branches keeping the top harder pruned while developing the bottom branches more. Happy so far if i look back at the first pic of my stick.
