The first one is still doing well though i havent taken out the care package that surrounds the foliage but its still green

Several more weeks and I will hopefully be expecting new shoots to emerge then its onto light feeding to prep it up

It will be a miracle if this tree survives. I would guess the shoots are living on the reserves in the wood. With no leaves the roots will stop dead as the tree cannot manufacture sugars. If it does survive, I think you may eventually find that most will die away and you won't be left with much. But I will certainly be interested to see what happens!
It's fun to watch when someone else does it.

Hey Julz its been a month since potting and they are both stable for the time being..

If they can continue to manage this then hopefully new growth will push through soon so I can start feeding

If you fertilize with buckleys brand rocking horse manure, it should survive

I think Webos is have a little funny
I suspect he is saying that he doubts the chances of it surviving with so little foliage.

Time will tell, and 3 - 6months will be the guide. if it putting on growth heading into next winter then you can say it has pulled thru, but not before them

Sorry inspired, I was just being a little silly. I have a bit of juniper transplanting experience and generally they will kill off any branch which has no foliage. I've never seen a branch survive once all foliage has been removed on a juniper. They do tend to shoot, but the shoots usually die off before too long. Even when a large branch is cut leaving a secondary branch, they will usually kill off most of the branch apart from a very thin, straight sap vein feeding only that secondary branch.

Having said this, I do hope it survives.. It's a great looking trunk!

Hopefully these guys will be ok and pull on through as its been 1 month. Let's check in next month

I have just had 1 of the junipers I dug from the grow beds in July turn yellow - Almost certainly dead now.
Many trees can put out new shoots with the energy stored in the trunk but if they do not also put out new roots below then death is inevitable.
I have had some with green shoots for almost a year then suddenly turn yellow. After checking the roots usually find no new roots.

As some of the others have said, juniper seem to need plenty of green leaves to provide food and hormones needed to start new roots. May be better to leave more on top than less if you want them to survive transplant.
Still hoping yours will pull through but you probably won't know for 6 months or more
