Last but not least... the two National Flags...



My heart always miss a beat seeing the two flags at the venue -- the yellow and three red stripes dates as far back as the 10th century... It is the identity of the Vietnamese who fled the communists...

Massive effort Daviet, many thanks indeed - conditions seemed to be very difficult! Certainly a lot of strong old trunks in this show. My favourite was possibly no.54, the Black Pine, also the pine in a rough pot, 36. 27 looks to be Hinoki cypress maybe? I thought 27, the elm on the rock was graceful, and clearly not in the Japanese-based style. 22 and 23 were interesting to get my head around - just how groomed do you want your junipers? For me, the less groomed one was the most successful, but other growers will I'm sure not agree!

Thank for the name ( Hinoki cypress ), I have always found it a funny variety

Number 54 is not very polished yet, but it is very nice.

My favourite is the juniper number 22 -- a little bit more attention then it will looking even better...

Hi,

Mr. Ba Loc did demo on a black pine on the 29th Nov 2014. I would say he cut off just about 90 per cent of the foliage.

This aggressiveness is not my cup of tea, I do like how it looks when finished. He did state that the tree must be left for another full season before repotting.

It would be a nice tree if survived. I apologise for the quality of the photos.
