JC, I don't know what I mean about Rainforest Stuff either - apart from a couple of good Tristaniopsis (Water Gums) and endless Figs we don't really see a lot of the broad-leafed trees that flourish in the warm damp forests from the mid-North Coast and up to QLD. I don't know what can be grown as bonsai, and it would be interesting to get beyond the usual Eucs, Mels, Cals, and Cas. There's a bit of envy there too - we'll start our four months of frosts in a few weeks...
Lance, the "bonsai journey" table is indeed a great idea - if the punters see that it's do-able, and that there's support from others in the club, it makes it easier to recruit them. Just don't tell them yet about the swearing, bad backs, threats from the partner, no holidays and the jungle of junk down the back of the yard that you'll get around to training one day... Good explanatory card - clear but comprehensive.
